Maxima the fair trade merino
Manos del Uruguay (The Hands of Uruguay) is a non profit organization which assembles over 400 artisans in cooperatives scattered throughout the countryside of Uruguay. The aim of the organization is to bring economics and social opportunities to rural women.
Maxima is a worsted weight, ultra soft Merino wool, hand dyed in exciting color combinations for bright, cozy projects. It is 100% extra fine Merino wool with a light twist. Hand dyed in large kettles to create a marbelized, subtly striated effect that forms a rich palette of glorious colors. No two skeins are exactly alike and there are no dye lots.
We recommend buying enough yarn to complete a project. If there is great difference between skeins, we recommend knitting two rows from one skein and two rows from another skein, carrying the yarn up the side, to give an overall blended effect.
Tension: 18 - 20 stitches to 4 inches (10 cm) on a 4 to 5 mm (US 6 - 8) needle.
Cleaning: Hand wash, dry flat.
Available in a 100 gram (3½ ounce) skein or hank.
Contains approximately 200 metres (219 yards.)
Please note that the colours shown on these shade cards are only approximate.
